About R. Spencer Pratt’s Fudge Factory
Our sweet story...
Based on traditions of candy makers on Mackinac Island in northern Michigan, R. Spencer Pratt’s Fudge Factory brings the same quality and delicious taste to the shores of the Mississippi River. Conveniently located in uptown Nauvoo, the Fudge Factory offers everyone a unique look at the old fashioned methods used to produce fine candies in days gone by.
Because we are a small family business, our “factory” consists of making our fudge one batch at a time, using only the freshest and best ingredients available. No artificial flavors or preservatives are used in the process. Each batch is made the ‘old-fashioned’ way by cooking it in a copper kettle (we have no machines or automatic equipment. The cooked fudge is poured onto a cold marble table, then at just the right time it is stirred and worked around the table to make it extra creamy as it cools.
Durell & Kathy Nelson have been residents of Nauvoo for more than 40 years. They have owned the Fudge Factory since 1999. “We are happy to be part of the Nauvoo Community. We love the spirit of Nauvoo and appreciate the friends we have in this wonderful city. Owning the Fudge Factory has made it possible for us to be more involved in the Community, as well as meeting many new friends who visit Nauvoo each year.”
